In 2023, I finished a map of Bucharest inspired by the word “sunset” (“apus” – RO) which, in Romanian, also has a second meaning: “disappeared”.
It is a map of forgotten or disappeared places, that yearn to illuminate our minds and hearts once again.
It was challenging to create a map design inspired by sunsets, and it was enjoyable to make it only in ArcGIS Pro and discover so many cartography tricks. Drawings and symbols were made with Adobe Illustrator.
